Anyone from whom we collect such personal information should expect that it will be carefully protected and that any use of or other dealing with this personal information is subject to express or implied consent. Our privacy practices are designed to achieve this.
Depending on where you live, the Foundation may not be under any statutory obligations with respect to the protection of the information that you provide to us. Notwithstanding this, the Foundation has voluntarily decided to adhere to best practices for the collection, use and disclosure of personal information as outlined in this policy.
Defining Personal Information
Personal information is information about an identifiable individual as defined, from time to time, in applicable Canadian privacy legislation. This includes any information that can be used to distinguish, identify or contact a specific individual. An individual’s opinions or beliefs, as well as facts about, or related to, the individual may also be considered personal information. Business contact information and certain publicly available information, such as names, addresses and telephone numbers as published in telephone directories, may not be considered personal information.
Where an individual uses his or her home contact information as business contact information as well, we consider the contact information provided to be business contact information, and therefore may not be subject to the same level of protection as personal information
Collecting, Using and Disclosing Personal Information
We collect personal information from you so that you can log onto our website, make an inquiry, contact us, donate, participate, create a fundraising or team page, and/or register for or purchase tickets, events, reservations, merchandise, and/or other activities collectively known as “Campaigns”.
Personal information collected by the Foundation may include: name, address, phone number, e-mail and other contact information, credit card or bank account information for donation or fundraising purposes, how much has been donated, the country or programs that an individual may wish to support and communication preferences for marketing purposes.
Personal information is gathered in a secure, encrypted form. Two-way validation ensures that only you can sign up with your email address. We use encryption software to protect personal and other information we receive when a donation is made and/or a product is purchased on-line. Our software is routinely updated to maximize the protection of such information.
We may collect personal information when you subscribe to or sign up for updates via forms made available through the Website. We will limit the personal information we collect to what we need for the purposes for which it was collected and will use such personal information for such purposes. If we wish to use your personal information for any other purpose, we will obtain your consent before using the information.
Storing of Information and Restricting Access
We may store your personal information (in encrypted form where we believe it to be highly sensitive) in electronic databases or e-mail boxes hosted by us for periods of time and with safeguards that we believe are reasonable depending on the nature and sensitivity of the information. Personal information gathered by the Foundation is kept in confidence. Access to the information is restricted in accordance with our security protocols.
We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the data submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive them. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. Therefore, while we store these data in a secure and encrypted environment, we cannot guarantee their absolute security.
We take all measures to ensure that the integrity of personal information is maintained and retained only as long as it is required.
Accuracy of Personal Information
We rely on our donors to provide us with accurate Personal Information. To change or modify any Personal Information previously provided to the Foundation, send us an email to info@belomarkovic-cf.com.

Web Beacons
We may also use “web beacons” or clear .gifs, or similar technologies, which are small pieces of code placed on a web page to monitor the behaviour and collect data about the visitors viewing a web page. Web beacons may be used to count the users who visit a web page or to deliver a cookie to the browser of a visitor viewing that page. The type of information collected might include the IP address of the computer, the web page being viewed, the date/time it was viewed, and user activity on the page. It’s important to understand that these technologies do not use personally identifiable information to make this happen but instead use anonymous identifiers within the cookies stored in your browser.
